  Oliver Wasse

  Major-project commercial and operations, on the delivery side of the infrastructure this market runs on.

  Oliver has over twelve years of energy experience working for upstream gas producers, infrastructure owners and trading houses on both the east and west coasts of Australia. Oliver has significant experience identifying, negotiating and managing commercial gas contracts with a focus on value optimisation. Oliver has worked for ExxonMobil, AGIG and Energy Matrix Group (EMG) before starting his own consultancy business in 2025.

  During his time at ExxonMobil, Oliver led new development opportunities in the Gippsland Basin in Victoria. His project the Turrum infill drilling program was completed in 2025 bringing on much needed infill supply to the Longford gas plant.

  At EMG, Oliver took over a wholesale gas portfolio and spent four years growing it. That meant working both ends of the market at once: the upstream producers who held the gas, and the downstream users who needed it. He built the relationships on both sides and used them to match supply to demand at a price that worked for each. He left it larger than he found it.

  Oliver identified that the energy markets are going through a systemic change with the retirement of coal in the electricity system and the declining legacy gas fields in the Carnarvon basin. As a result, he saw a need for bespoke independent advice for small and large gas users and so he started Jasper Advisory in 2025. Since launching Jasper, Oliver has provided advice to clients in electricity generation and retail, mining, mineral processing and industrials. Oliver has found that his experience and focus on delivering outcomes to his clients have led to significant value creation for each company he has worked with.

  From ships navigator to global LNG markets and energy sourcing for a Pilbara industrial buyer. Experience from all three sides of the same market.

  Jai has over seventeen years experience in energy and maritime operations and has sat on both sides of the Western Australian gas market. Jai served for six years as a Maritime Warfare Officer in the Royal Australian Navy, before joining Shell in 2015 as a ships navigator for the North West Shelf joint venture, delivering LNG cargoes to Japan.

  After eight years at sea, Shell took Jai from LNG chartering operations in Dubai, optimising spot and term cargo movements across a fleet of more than sixty vessels, into LNG trading operations through the Middle East, Africa, the UK and India. He returned to Perth as an Origination Trader for Shell Energy Australia, structuring short and long-term domestic gas deals with utilities, international oil companies, traders, brokers, miners and industry across Western Australia.

  Most recently Director of Energy Sourcing at Yara International ASA, Jai led trading strategy and PnL for Yara’s Australian energy portfolio which includes Yara Pilbara Fertilisers gas demand of 92 TJ/d, or 8% of the WA market. During Jai’s time at Yara he managed large tenders for a long-term gas procurement programme to replace expiring contracts protecting future operations for Yara. He led the Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Sequestration (CCUS) commercial workstream, ACCU and SMC purchasing under the Safeguard Mechanism, an electricity grid connection project and engaged with the assets technical team for the integration of Project Yuri, a 10 MW renewable hydrogen electrolyser and 18 MW solar PV system into an operating ammonia facility, an Australian first.
